Looking Back At My Preliminary Task - School Magazine

For the preliminary task of my coursework I had to create a front page and contents page for a new school/college magazine. To produce this I sketched out some ideas of how my school magazine would look.

After this I went around school and took the necessary pictures for my school magazine. I then had to think about colours and the theme of my magazine, as my main school colour is green I decided to use this as my starting point. From this I began to create the magazine, the programmes I used to do this were the following.

Looking at my preliminary task I think that I have managed to follow the codes and conventions of a real magazine. From creating this magazine it allowed me to get used to the software. I was able to practise using the different features, before creating my main task. From this I found out that I am able to use publisher, picnik and paint easily. However when using photoshop I found it hard to use the cut out tool for the main image so I only used it for the masthead. If I could change this task I would edit the main cover image and place the people onto a separate plain background.

Preliminary Task - Construction

The software that I am using to create my school magazine is Microsoft publisher I have chosen to use this as this task is only a tester to allow me to get comfortable with the different technics and applications. I therefore have not spent much time creating this magazine.

Brief

The main brief I was given for my AS media coursework requires me to create the front page, contents and a double page feature spread of a new music magazine.

I'm also required to carry out a preliminary task, to use an image manipulation program, for example Adobe Photoshop to produce an front page of a new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. new school/college magazine, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. All images and text used must be original, and produced by mself with a  minimum of FOUR images per candidate.

I have created this blog to record my research and planning which will help me to produce a successful magazine. The first step .towards creating my magazine was to research into music magazines.
